Hi Greg,
Thanks for the inquiry. You are right, SCDMesh algorithm in MeshKit was developed to do this sort of task.
It usesScdInterface (http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~fathom/moab-docs/html/contents.html#representation) defined in MOAB.
The meshing task you describe is covered in this test in MeshKit:
http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~fathom/meshkit-docs/html/test__scdmesh_8cpp_source.html
For SCDMesh algorithm details see: http://www.mcs.anl.gov/~fathom/meshkit-docs/html/algorithm_scdmesh.html

Subject: SCDMesh for meshing IGES geometry
Hi Rajeev,
I came across MeshKit today, and it looks like you have made the most recent commits. I’ve reviewed the 2011 CS&E presentation, and so far as I can tell, the SCDMesh component inside MeshKit might do what I want it to do. Namely, I’d like to take geometry data (in IGES format, for example), and generate a Cartesian mesh structure that can be input into one of our solvers. Our solver requires a structured, Cartesian grid, but it cannot accommodate embedded boundaries.
Can MeshKit do this?
Thanks,
Greg Fischer
