I usually set GLOBUS_HOSTNAME in the environment rather than specifying a 
commandline parameter; that works for me regularly.

eg:

  $ export GLOBUS_HOSTNAME=182.17.3.16

If you're adding in non-Swift stuff like provider-deef, I haven't tested 
how that responds to the above configuration.
