[petsc-dev] can we remove EXAMPLESC / EXAMPLESF?

In src/**/tests/makefile or src/**/tutorials/makefile, are the EXAMPLESC and EXAMPLESF variables still relevant?

I have created a new example
src/sys/tests/ex54.c
in https://gitlab.com/petsc/petsc/-/merge_requests/2837 and forgot to update the makefile.
And it looks like nothing has really happened and nobody has complained yet.

Maybe we could get rid of this liability?
