[mpich-discuss] mpi problem with "mpd &"

Why don't you try using the Hydra process manager instead. Just run your
program with mpiexec.hydra. You don't need to do "mpd&". See
http://wiki.mcs.anl.gov/mpich2/index.php/Using_the_Hydra_Process_Manager
for further info.
