I'm now suspecting that FC stands for "Fedora Core" and so I'm stumped about the numbering nomenclature. I assume since I want RH 5 I need to take el15. But please tell me what the "3." stands for. Sorry to be so dense.

Subject: [mpich-discuss] A differnt question on Linux
I assume under the Linux binaries for Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS that are available, the lead digit,
1.xxx
2.xxx
3.xxx and so forth specify the gross level, so a 4.xxx would be a RH4, and el is the "Enterprise" version, and "fc" stands for "Fedora/CentOS". Am I correct in these assumptions?
