[mpich-discuss] make error for mpich2-1.2 on Mac OSX 10.5.8

Please help.

To install mpich2, I am following your README file:
Step 1 works fine:
/Users/pmv/Codes/mpich2-1.2/configure --prefix=/usr/local/mpich2-1.2  
2>&1 | tee c.txt

In step 2:
make VERBOSE=1 2>&1 | tee m.txt
    ends with:
Makefile:181: .deps/alldeps: No such file or directory
make[4]: *** No rule to make target `.deps/alldeps'.  Stop.
make[3]: *** [all-redirect] Error 2
make[2]: *** [all-redirect] Error 2
make[1]: *** [all-redirect] Error 2
make: *** [all-redirect] Error 2

m.txt & c.txt files are attached.

I am using a Mac 2.93 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. I have gfortran and  
g95 both working & XCode is installed.
