We invite you to the tutorial “Dynamic Resource Management for HPC” at
PPAM 2026 in Poznań, (Poland) on August 30th, 2026.

Traditional static resource allocation leads to underutilization and
long queue times. This tutorial introduces dynamic resource management
(DRM) and malleable MPI applications, which enable applications to adapt
their resource usage at runtime. We will present key concepts, system
implications, and two representative frameworks—DPP and DMR—covering
their API, design, capabilities, and integration with schedulers such as
Slurm.

The session combines theory with hands-on exercises, allowing
participants to run and dynamically resize MPI applications in practice.
Attendees will learn how DRM can improve performance, system
utilization, and energy efficiency.

This tutorial is intended for HPC practitioners, developers, and
researchers. Familiarity with MPI and job schedulers is recommended.

Organized by:

-Sergio Iserte (BSC)
