CALL FOR PAPERS
The 2nd Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in AI, HPC, and Quantum Computing will be held in conjunction with CARLA 2026, the Latin America High Performance Computing Conference.
Date: September 22, 2026
Location: UNC Cultural Center, Córdoba, Argentina
Submission deadline: July 19, 2026
Format: Half-day workshop
Proceedings: CARLA 2026 Workshop Proceedings, published in Avances en Ciencias e Ingeniería (ACI)
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
High-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing are essential technologies for scientific discovery, engineering innovation, and data-driven decision-making. At the same time, the continued growth of compute-intensive workloads is increasing energy consumption, infrastructure requirements, and operational costs.
The rapid expansion of large-scale AI training and inference infrastructures—including GPU-intensive AI factories and sovereign AI initiatives—has further increased the need for sustainable and energy-aware computing strategies.
The workshop provides a forum for researchers, application developers, system architects, hardware and software specialists, data center operators, and policy makers to discuss approaches for improving the energy and resource efficiency of advanced computing infrastructures.
We particularly welcome research contributions, operational experiences, position papers, and case studies addressing sustainability challenges in HPC, AI, and quantum computing. Contributions originating in or applicable to Latin America are especially encouraged.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Energy-efficient algorithms, AI models, and foundation-model training and inference
- Scheduling, orchestration, and workload management for energy and power efficiency
- Hardware-software co-design and optimization for sustainable computing
- Low-power, accelerator-based, and heterogeneous computing architectures
- Monitoring, telemetry, modeling, and benchmarking of energy consumption
- Carbon-aware computing and energy-aware resource management
- Sustainable GPU computing and large-scale AI infrastructures
- Renewable-energy integration and sustainable data center operation
- Energy-aware data center design, cooling technologies, and waste-heat reuse
- AI-based optimization of infrastructure energy consumption and operation
- Operational experiences from HPC, AI, and quantum computing infrastructures
- Sustainability challenges in AI factories and exascale systems
