GreenSys: 2nd International Workshop on Systems and Methods for Sustainable Large-Scale AI
Co-located with EuroSys 2026, 27th April 2026, Edinburgh, Scotland

Scope

The GreenSys workshop, co-located with EuroSys 2026, aims to foster dialogue between systems and Artificial Intelligence (AI) researchers to identify solutions to key sustainability challenges in AI, ensuring a more sustainable future for AI development and deployment. The rapid expansion of Machine Learning (ML) and AI applications has brought significant sustainability challenges. These advanced computational models, with their intensive processing and data requirements, have substantially increased the energy consumption and carbon footprint of backend IT infrastructures.

The sustainability of large-scale AI systems is particularly challenging due to the diversity in hardware architectures, software stacks, and model complexities. This variability necessitates innovative approaches to enhance energy and carbon efficiency throughout the AI model lifecycle. Addressing these challenges requires advancements in AI algorithms, hardware, and runtime systems that oversee complex cyber-physical infrastructures. Solutions must be data-driven and incorporate cross-layer optimization across models, hardware, software stacks, and energy sources.

Call for Papers

We invite contributions to the workshop proceedings. The workshop aims to provide a platform for authors to present work-in-progress or early-stage research in this domain. Presenters are encouraged to share ongoing projects to foster constructive feedback and stimulate dialogue. This interactive setting will promote collaboration among participants, including the audience and distinguished researchers delivering invited talks.
Topics

Submissions are invited across all areas of sustainable AI, including but not limited to:

  *   Sustainable AI Systems,
  *   AI Data Center Optimizations
  * Analysis of Environmental Impact of AI (Energy, Water, and Carbon Footprints, etc.)
  *   Energy-Efficient AIOps
  *   Power-Aware Workload Management
  *   Dynamic Inference Orchestration
  *   Hardware-Software Co-design Methods
  * AI on Resource-Constrained Edge Devices
  * Software Engineering Practices for Energy-Aware AI
  *   Carbon-Aware AI Lifecycle Management

Submission Instructions

Submitted papers must describe original and unpublished research that is not under review at other venues. Submissions must be formatted as PDFs using the latest ACM sigconf proceedings template (10-point font, double-column) and must not exceed 6 pages, including references. The workshop follows a single-blind review process, and author names and affiliations should appear on the first page. All submissions will undergo peer review. Accepted papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library.
