Supercomputing Spotlights is a new webinar series featuring short
presentations that highlight the impact and successes of
high-performance computing (HPC) throughout our world. Presentations,
emphasizing achievements and opportunities in HPC, are intended for the
broad international community, especially students and newcomers to the
field. Supercomputing Spotlights is an outreach initiative of
SIAG/Supercomputing (https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://siag-sc.org__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!ZY9_ufsPskvO-ocC44OqSRpLd6C_60tM8x9N9JGmzcTE5Di9fijYTwXKCdUUShNj-VetHxGhd9sBWR-QZNNvE_PXVeZ7T-k$ ) … Join us!
Abstract:
The presentation surveys the computing continuum at IT4Innovations,
ranging from petascale supercomputers (Karolina, Barbora, and Barbora
NG) to the preexascale LUMI supercomputer and Czech AI and LUMI AI
factories, and ultimately to the VLQ quantum computer. The above is
supplemented by user access schemes, education activities, training
programmes, and applied research outputs. It outlines the centre’s role
in the Czech e-infrastructure (e-INFRA CZ), its participation and role
in the EuroHPC ecosystem, and the integration path for hybrid HPC–QC
workflows. The presentation summarises the applications of HPC, QC, and
AI across academia, industry, and public administration; describes a
portfolio of services; and highlights the IT4Innovations flagship
results, such as the LEXIS platform, HEAppE, HyperQueue, MERIC, ESPRESO,
and Floreon+, illustrating how these tools can accelerate research,
development, and innovation.

scalable algorithms, HPC applications for industry and science, and the
integration of AI and QC technologies into scientific computing. He has
coordinated and co-led major European and national projects, including
the Horizon and EuroHPC educational initiatives EUMaster4HPC and MSCA
ITN EXPERTISE. He serves on university scientific councils, evaluation
panels, boards, and committees, including ETP4HPC and the National
Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education. As author of more than 70
scientific papers and several Springer monographs, he actively promotes
collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions in the
fields of supercomputing, AI, and QC.
