This interactive workshop aims to bring the needs of research software engineering to, and Research Software Engineers (RSEs) into, the ICSE community. It aims to help software engineering researchers better understand research software, its developers, and their processes, through the presentation and discussion of software engineering research on research software, including successful collaborations between software engineering researchers and RSEs, lessons learned from encountering challenges in such projects, and innovative software engineering solutions that can help improve research software engineering practice.
SERS 2026 explicitly intends to develop the community of collaborating software engineering researchers and research software engineers.

We invite you to submit short abstracts (max. 2 pages) in English that contribute relevant work in the area of software engineering research on research software (engineering)! Accepted submissions will be published open access by the ACM, free of charge, in the workshop proceedings.
