[AG-TECH] AG VenueClient/bajjer is an "Outsider" to Jabber/MU-Conference

Hi all,

Over the last few months I've been trying on and off to get AG working with Jabber on our intranet. I started off with Openfire, which as I can see from other posts (~April 2008) doesn't work with AG. But I would like to point out that AG does get to the stage of creating an account with Openfire, but is unable to join rooms (look at user list).

This week I used a virtual machine as a server, installing jabberd2 and mu-conference-0.7 to deal with messaging and conferencing. Gaim and Spark jabber clients were able to connect to the server, create rooms and send messages, but when I connected using AG I got the same behaviour as when using Openfire as a server:
AG was able to "connect", but no messages appear to be sent or received.

Looking through the mu-conference log file I was able to find the point the jabber server received the message sent from AG, which I have attached below:

Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference.c:373 (_con_packets)] preprocessing packet <message xmlns='jabber:client' to='Jabber-Test(ag-server.dsto.defence.gov.au)@conference.dsto.defence.gov.au' type='groupchat' from='0a7bad1012d85487333f08e36863774f at jabber.dsto.defence.gov.au/default'><body>ertgswr</body></message>
Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference.c:399 (_con_packets)] processing packet <message xmlns='jabber:client' to='Jabber-Test(ag-server.dsto.defence.gov.au)@conference.dsto.defence.gov.au' type='groupchat' from='0a7bad1012d85487333f08e36863774f at jabber.dsto.defence.gov.au/default'><body>ertgswr</body></message>
Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference.c:468 (_con_packets)] 0a7bad1012d85487333f08e36863774f at jabber.dsto.defence.gov.au/default
Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference.c:753 (_con_packets)] No cnu found for user
Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference_room.c:772 (con_room_outsider)] handling request from outsider 0a7bad1012d85487333f08e36863774f at jabber.dsto.defence.gov.au/default to room jabber-test(ag-server.dsto.defence.gov.au)@conference.dsto.defence.gov.au
Tue Jul 22 19:20:05 2008 MU-Conference: [conference_room.c:784 (con_room_outsider)] Bouncing message from outsider

I got the similar error when using the python script from the link below:
http://www.accessgrid.org/developer/Jabber

I believe somehow bajjer/AG isn't actually entering and of the conferencing rooms, since it's being referred to as an "outsider".

Are there any plans for bajjer to be removed from AG, and use a different Jabber client?

If we're stuck with bajjer could someone please post the exact versions of linux distro (e.g. "Slackware 10.2" not just "Slackware"), jabberd14 and mu-conference they have on their functional server?

Cheers,
Justin Dinale
