[AG-TECH] Problem with mic, rat and gentoo

Hi,

Normally in the mixer (gnome volume control), we have the mic input 
muted, with the record ticked. This works. Our problem is that when rat 
is started it un-mutes the sound, so that the sound plays though the 
speakers. Ticking the mute box fixes this again.

My problem is that every time rat is opened, or settings are changed, 
the mic feedbacks though the speakers, and I have to tick the mute box 
again.

We are running a sound blaster live. We are using OSS because ALSA gives 
a distorted sound.

This does not happen on our Fedora Access Grids, only our gentoo Access 
Grid.

Anybody have any other ideas?
