I don't think the 64bit Python ever looks for that file, I think it needs:

/usr/lib64/python2.2/site-packages/wxPython/wxc.so

Download the wxGTK2 and wxPython SRPMs from Fedora Extras 3 or 4 and 
rebuild/install on RHEL3 x86-64.
