shows the patch in html. However there is a link on this page with the
text 'raw'

If you click on that - you get plain text patch - that can be applied
with 'patch command'

Ig uess I should have just sent the 'raw' link - but figured the html
link had more utility [as its more browsable] - so listed the html
link to the patch.
