[POOL] Ideas for winnings

My 2 cents,
I agree with Craig on all his points, but I think it would be better to
have a party than to split the money. If the money had to be split, I
think those that actually played (and paid) for the matches
should be proportionately compensated, because they are the reasons that
we got this far. It is true that I did come to quite a few matches and
did not get to play, but I got to increase my skill
level (I would hope my pool skills increased) on the practice table and
I got to meet a great bunch of guys, with the exception of Ti. How about
giving the most to those that won the most matches?
I hope that you will not like that suggestion, because I would have to
pay in more for how bad I played.
IMHO, the team has always had a party at the end of the season (I
assume) and the small amount of money that each would receive could not
equal the happiness that could come from such a get together
(party). Without trying to sound like a "Hallmark Card" and get all
"sappy", I just think the party is a better "investment".
I also agree that we should have the party later in the summer, so that
Amy can attend.
As far as cookouts go, I could possibly host that, but I have to finish
my kitchen remodelling in order to get that to happen (which might fall
into the "late summer" option. I also would have to float
that possibility past my wife.
As far as the restaurants that are suggested, both are excellent
choices.
A cold air intake for Roger or a pool table contribution for Craig would
be fine too.

My thoughts inline:
First up, given Ti's about-to-be-a-daddy-ness, anything we do should be
in the late summer so as to allow him (and possibly Amy) the opportunity
to get out and do something.

I like this. I also like Wildfire. I would also throw out Maggianos as
a possibility -- I hosted a party for my wife there a few years back,
and the dinner was reasonably priced, I thought. And, given the amount
of money, I think we could/should open this up to SOs as well.

I'm okay with this, but the logistics are a factor. Who will host it?
If SOs are invited along, we need to have non-meat alternatives as my
wife doesn't eat any meat and Amy doesn't do anything but poultry.

I'm not so into this option.

I would suggest a modification of this. The proportionate amount is not
based on matches played but the number of times the person actually
signed up and showed up. Poor Bill was a regular, but hardly got any
matches.

A fine idea. Or take the leftovers and apply #4 above. Or take the
entire pot and do this. I'm making it a point next year to play on the
league practice table more so that more money is put into the league's
pocket, and to get a better diversity of opponents. I'd encourage
others to do the same.

Uh huh. In that spirit, I'm getting a pool table in late June, and it's
estimated it will cost about $500 to get a pro out to get it properly
set up.
Of the ideas above, I'd rank my preferences as a dinner (with guest if
possible), splitting the winnings proportionately, cook-out, practice
table.
