I'd still favor such mappers being some form of first class apps, but I
need to get a bit more realistic.

I think it did. As far as I can gaze it seems to be able to be used for
anything by virtue of the fact that it imposes almost no restrictions.

Given that it took a couple of hours, and I don't expect maintenance to
be a big issue, I'd say it can't hurt much. Docs and tests are still
needed.
