Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into the documentation of ts_type bdf and try implementing the same. However, it seems like there is not much example on TSBDF available. If you can kindly share with me an example on the implementation of TSBDF it would be helpful.

It is hard to know for us. BDF is implicit, so CVODE has to solve a (non)linear system, and it looks like this is what fails. I would send it to the CVODE team.
Alternatively, you can run with -ts_type bdf and we would have more information to help you with.
