This does not save it as a Matlab file, it talks to a running Matlab
session. To write a Matlab file, you can use

But, especially for large files, it is much better to write a binary file in
PETSc format and load it from Matlab using

$PETSC_DIR/bin/matlab/PetscBinaryRead.m
