--with-pic

Dear all,

On a 64-bit system, I need to compile with the option "-fPIC" to be 
able to link with my application.  I configured PETSC with 
"--with-pic=fPIC", but still it seems to call the gfortran compiler 
with "-PIC" rather than "-fPIC" for some or all fortran source files. 
The compiler does not understand the "-PIC" option, hence prints an 
error message and exits.  How can I tell PETSc to use "-fPIC" instead?
