-pc_type lu -ksp_type preonly

To use parallel direct solvers - you'll have to install PETSc with one
of the direct solver external packages [SuperLU_DIST, spooles, MPUMPS]

With these - you can do - for eg:

-mat_type superlu_dist -pc_type lu -ksp_type preonly
