[mpich2-dev] MPI_CHAR vs. MPI_SIGNED_CHAR in reductions

MPICH2 folks --

My MPI book says that MPI_SIGNED_CHAR is a valid datatype for the  
arithmetic reduction operations, and that MPI_CHAR is not.

The MPICH2 code, e.g. in opmax.c, seems to allow MPI_CHAR but not  
MPI_SIGNED_CHAR for these operations.

Is this a bug in the code?
