Hi,
Let us discuss the issue over mpich-discuss and see if your problem is related to ticket 1151 before updating the ticket.
From your description it looks like you had issues installing MPICH2 on your system (You shouldn't have had the issues that you mentioned below if the installation was successful). I would recommend the following,
# Uninstall your existing version of MPICH2 (via Control Panel)
# Install MPICH2 following the instructions in Section 9.4 (NOT 9.1) of the MPICH2 installer's guide (available at http://www.mcs.anl.gov/research/projects/mpich2/documentation/index.php?s=docs)
# Try running a simple MPI job.
Let us know if it works.
Regards,
Jayesh

Comment:
Hi,
I am new to using mpich2 and had similar problems as the OP. I followed
the advice given and got rid of error messages like "unable to
connect...actively refused.." and "needs elevation". This left me with
credentials rejected. I again followed the advice above and used mppiexec
-register and -validate and obtained "success".
But I still get credentials rejected.
My aim is to run a code on two cores of my pc. Isn't the username and
password the same as my windows login? Also, I didn't exact;y follow what
was meant by "adding MPICH2\bin to your PATH", if it means having the
prompt display as "c:\program files\mpich2\bin", I have done that.
Please do let me know where I might have gone wrong.
Thanks a lot!
