[mpich-discuss] p4_error issue

As you mention, mpich1 is no longer supported.  It's always surprising when mpich1 or p4 work at all on a modern system.  I would recommend just installing mpich2.  For most uses it will work just fine as an mpich1 replacement and will be much faster and more robust.
