[mpich-discuss] ring communication and other questions

hey there guys,
i hope u all are doing great.

i had some questions in mind and thought any one here could have the answers.

1.why mpich uses ring communication? why not tree or star or any other network topology?

2.when u use mpd as your process manager, and u have a mpd.hosts file like this:
  node1
  node2
  node3
when u have any problems booting the mpd in (say node2) the mpd doesn't skip this node and continue to the next(instead the whole booting process fails)?
does this issue happens with other process managers (say hydra)?

one last thing, if any one know anything that can give me deeper knowledge about how mpich2 internally works it would be great.
