[mpich-discuss] Problems install MPICH2 on Solaris 10 i386_64

Yes, it looks like "--divide" just isn't supported by the binutils version that you have, but the gcc still emits assembly that uses "/" as a constant divide operator. The tool chain is just broken.

Unfortunately I don't have much specific Solaris knowledge that I can contribute. I would probably look into one of the packaging systems like OpenCSW:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCSW
http://www.opencsw.org/
http://www.opencsw.org/packages/gcc4core

You could also ask your coworkers if they have any Solaris experience.

As I mentioned before I'm not a Solaris guy by trade and wanted to build out a test VMimage for a project I will be delivering on Solaris. I downloaded the latest Solaris installer from Oracle/Sun and the latest Companion cd and installed the whole Companion cd. Do I need something else? Could you point me in a direction to get a compiler tool chain?
