Thank you for your quick reply.

The number of nodes is decided using environmental variable CFOUR_NUM_CORES which was defined at the configuration script of cfour.

I restarted the same job by doing the following ;

export CFOUR_NUM_CORES=4

mpd &
mpdboot -f File  --ncpus=4
cfourbinary input > output

I noticed that starting the command ( top) confirms the presence of four cpus runing

on my computer, nevertheless the job finshed in real time close to the serial job !.
