 Can you manually install smpd now (smpd -install) ? Do you have mpich2mpi.dll installed in your system dir (dir c:\windows\system32\mpich2mpi.dll) ?

I made sure that it was not installed.  I ran the command.  At the end of the installation (the bar in the box was full) I got the same error message.  Attached is the log file.

# Make sure that you don't have MPICH2 installed on your system (pls look at the control panel)
# Download the latest MPICH2 installer (1.2) and perform a manual install with logging (msiexec /i mpich2-1.2-win-ia32.msi /log mpich2-1.2-ia32-install.log) and provide us with the log.

SP3 is installed, as well as all other Microsoft updates.

 Do you have SP3 for XP installed on your machine ?
 Can you try manually installing the process manager (smpd -install) and let us know the results ?

(PS: Please copy-paste the command and the output - don't retype the info in the email. This helps us in debugging the problem.)

Hi,
I tried the latest version (2) that I downloaded.  When that did not work, I downloaded older versions, starting at 1.07, and they did not install either.

This is Windows XP professional, updated with all existing patches.

I have Admin privileges. No previous version was installed.

# What is the flavor of windows installed in your machine (If you have windows vista installed you need to install the MPICH2 process manager manually - Open a command prompt with admin privileges, i.e. "run as administrator", and type "smpd -install -phrase behappy" to install MPICH2) ?
# Do you have another version of MPICH2 installed on your machine (If so, uninstall the prev version and install the new version)?
