[mpich-discuss] Building liblmpe.a in a no-fortran environment

Dear mpich2,

I'm trying to build mpich2 on a machine without a fortran compiler;
it'll be used in a pure C/C++ environment.

I'm finding that liblmpe.a isn't being built;  my friends at NCSA
tell me that they've solved this by installing gfortran --- but
this would be the only fortran dependency in the entire stack.

Is there a better way?  I poked around in autoconf world but
found nothing useful.
