Thanks so much for your detailed replies.

I looked at the Windows developer guide dt. Sep 14, 2007 (that you wrote :)
) and the documentation says Infiniband still uses the channel interface. 

I will post on the MVAPICH list also to get clarification regarding support
of launching single MPI application across Windows and Linux using SMPD.

Different IB stacks don't interact very well even on homogeneous platforms.
The user should install OpenIB (now called OpenFabrics) on all machines,
since it's supported by all vendors.
