[MPICH] mpdboot error : fail to ping

[Rusty Lusk]

The Users' Guide suggests starting the mpd's by hand instead of using
mpdboot for the first experiments.  This makes it easier to detect
possible configuraton programs.  Also see the material there about
mpdcheck.
