[MPICH] No route to host problem -- fixed

Ralph, 

Thanks for the pointer to the mpdcheck program.
After experimenting with it I was able to track
down the problem to the firewall the Fedora Core 4
start by default.   I used tcpdump program to 
look at the tcp/ip network packets and saw that
my FC4 box was rejecting the mpd protocol packets.
