[MPICH] (mpdtrace:) got eof on console[Scanned]

I am quite new to mpich2, so any help here would be helpful

I have 476 machines on which I am trying to get mpich2 to work

mpdboot 300: works ok
mpdboot 350: works ok
mpdboot 400: after a couple of mpdtrace runs, I get got "mpdtrace 
(mpdtrace 41): got eof on console"

and any number above 400 behaves like this

any ideas
