I think the problem is with the version of libtool that you have installed.
 Which version are you using?  It seems to be running the configure tests
for Fortran regardless of what we ask for in the configure script.  If this
is the problem, then the attached patch should work around the problem.  It
will disable FORTRAN name mangling regardless of whether or not a FORTRAN
compiler is configured.  Please let me know if this works.
