Minisymposium proposal deadline: February 9, 2026
The SIAM Conference on Mathematics of Planet Earth provides a forum for interdisciplinary
researchers to discuss mathematical, statistical, and computational strategies that address the
pressing challenges facing Earth systems. Of particular interest are sessions on: earth system
modeling, hurricanes, earthquakes, sea ice, sea level rise, earth system monitoring, carbon
sequestration and storage, natural resources, agriculture, extreme weather, ocean and
atmosphere dynamics, tsunamis and rogue waves, remote sensing, ice sheets, permafrost,
ecosystem modeling, sustainability, adaptation, mitigation, erosion, pollution events and clean-
up, disasters, water and food security, transportation, and infectious diseases.
Research in these areas is supported by the development and utilization of applied mathematics
and quantitative methods in: deep learning, data-driven modeling, numerical analysis, dynamical
systems, probabilistic modeling, uncertainty quantification, reduced-order models, Bayesian
estimation, data assimilation, digital twins, closure modeling, rare events theory, optimization,
control and decision theory, autonomy, risk management, visualization, supercomputing and
quantum computing. Other advances directly relevant to MPE themes are also most welcome.
A minisymposium consists of one to three sessions, each with up to four 25-minute presentations.
Please visit the conference website for more information about submitting a proposal.
