Call for Participation: Free SimOps Tutorial for Young HPC Graduates
Impacted by the Dramatic AI Shift in the Job MarketShift in the Job Market

SimOps, the community-driven non-profit initiative and foundation for
Simulation
Operations, calls for participation in a free SimOps AI for Graduates tutorial,
https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.simops.com/certification/simops-ai-for-graduates__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!Y9jSBHI4FpEz72Tx8IKbVOS8b9LTLFkcRNUr36Z3hkquzHn3QB41o8GUm3OIoL47GY1_qeBbEdDGc9QJRF1c9m9q$ , designed
to help recent HPC graduates and final-year engineering students
navigate the rapidly changing job market shaped by artificial
intelligence (AI).

For the first time in modern history, a college degree no longer
guarantees entry into the professional workforce, see the HPCwire Feature
Story on "How AI Is Reshaping Entry-Level Jobs and What It Means for the
Future of Engineering and HPC",
https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.hpcwire.com/2025/08/06/how-ai-is-reshaping-entry-level-jobs-and-what-it-means-for-the-future-of-engineering-and-hpc/__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!Y9jSBHI4FpEz72Tx8IKbVOS8b9LTLFkcRNUr36Z3hkquzHn3QB41o8GUm3OIoL47GY1_qeBbEdDGc9QJRAHIupw4$ .
Young graduates are increasingly facing unemployment, underemployment,
and shrinking opportunities in traditional white-collar sectors such
as technology, finance, and professional services. Occupations most
affected include knowledge-based roles such as interpreters, writers,
customer support agents, sales representatives, and engineering and
simulation are not far behind. Even the most successful companies are
not immune to this disruption.

“Everybody’s jobs will be different as a result of AI. Some jobs will
be obsolete, but many jobs will be created. The one thing we know for
certain is that if you’re not using AI, you’re going to lose your job
to someone who uses AI.” — Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia

The promise of higher education has long been clear: earn a degree,
unlock access to professional careers, and climb the economic ladder.
But that promise is eroding rapidly, especially for early-career
professionals in engineering, high-performance computing (HPC), and
digital R&D roles. The latest report from the Burning Glass Institute,
No Country for Young Grads,
https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.burningglassinstitute.org/research/no-country-for-young-grads__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!Y9jSBHI4FpEz72Tx8IKbVOS8b9LTLFkcRNUr36Z3hkquzHn3QB41o8GUm3OIoL47GY1_qeBbEdDGc9QJRKdYIZOZ$ ,
highlights this troubling shift. At SimOps, we view this shift as both
a challenge and an opportunity.

SimOps introduces free tutorial for young grads

The newly founded non-profit community organization SimOps, Simulation
Operations, provides a structured framework for efficiently managing
simulations and the underlying HPC infrastructure. SimOps focuses on
best practices for automation, standardization, scalability, and
collaboration. But more importantly, SimOps opens new career paths for
early-career professionals by reducing onboarding time for junior
engineers through standardized workflows, foster mentorship through
collaborative platforms, and let engineers focus on solving problems
instead of managing complex HPC infrastructure.

SimOps now introduces a new Tutorial For Young Graduates in
Engineering and HPC, https://urldefense.us/v3/__https://www.simops.com/certification__;!!G_uCfscf7eWS!Y9jSBHI4FpEz72Tx8IKbVOS8b9LTLFkcRNUr36Z3hkquzHn3QB41o8GUm3OIoL47GY1_qeBbEdDGc9QJRBI0wfE8$ . This
tutorial is specifically designed for recent graduates in computer
science and HPC infrastructure entering the workforce (2024-2026), and
for engineering students in their final year. The main focus of this
tutorial is for graduates to safely navigating the AI revolution in
HPC and engineering, by understanding the computing landscape you're
entering, how AI evolved (and why timing matters for you), the types
of AI you'll encounter in your engineering/HPC career, AI's impact on
the industries you want to join, and building your future in an
AI-powered world.

Earlier this year, SimOps introduced the SimOps Fundamentals and
SimOps Practitioners tutorials for HPC experts and simulation engineers
which are the entry into the one-stop Practitioner Club that we will
announce in September, a free HPC/AI community platform for
discussing/sharing best practices, challenges, solutions, and
certified software in engineering simulations, HPC infrastructures and
operations, AI, and Cloud Computing. Each tutorial is free and takes
about 1 hour (incl. multiple choice exam). The next tutorial, the SimOps
Expert, is already in the making, where you will implement your own
HPC software stack on your computer, under experts' guidance, and run
a real-life
application simulation.
