Seventh Workshop on Emerging Parallel and Distributed Runtime Systems and
Middleware IPDRM'25
Friday November 21, 2025
Held in conjunction with the International
Conference for High Performance Computing,
Networking, Storage and Analysis, (SC
25), November 16-21, 2025,
St. Louis, Missouri,
USA.
The landscape of high-performance computing (HPC) is evolving rapidly,
driven by the advent of the exascale era and the increasing integration of
non-traditional computing paradigms. This complexity, characterized by
extreme parallelism across heterogeneous architectures and intricate memory
hierarchies, highlights the critical role of runtime systems and
middleware. These foundational software layers are essential for
dynamically managing resources, orchestrating data movement, and
facilitating computation, ultimately empowering programmers to unlock the
full potential of these sophisticated systems.
This year, the IPDRM workshop will emphasize the system software that
bridges classical node architectures with emerging, post-Moore's Law
compute technologies such as quantum, neuromorphic, and analog computing.
We seek innovative contributions exploring novel approaches to middleware
and runtime systems capable of effectively integrating and managing these
diverse computing resources.
Building on a strong tradition of fostering discussions about advanced
runtime and middleware technologies, IPDRM aims to attract a diverse group
of international researchers. We invite you to share your innovative ideas
and solutions that tackle the evolving challenges in designing,
implementing, and evaluating future runtime systems and middleware. We
particularly encourage novel, disruptive research ideas over incremental
advances.
Topics of Interest
------------------
We solicit papers on topics including, but not limited to, the following
areas:
Runtime System/Middleware Techniques, Design, and Evaluation
* System software for post-Moore's law computing (e.g., Quantum,
Neuromorphic, or Analog computing)
* Runtime/middleware for large-scale computing, accelerators, or appliances
* Network and IO middleware technology
* Modeling and performance analysis of runtime systems
* Runtime-architecture co-design
Constraints and Issues for Runtime Systems and Middleware
* Heterogeneous resource management
* Data movement
* Memory models
Design Principles and Programming Support
* High-level programming models (e.g., thread and task-based models,
data-parallel models, and stream programming) and domain-specific languages
* Programming frameworks, parallel programming, and design methodologies
* Methodologies and tools for runtime and middleware design,
implementation, verification, and evaluation
Submissions
-----------
We welcome submissions up to 8 pages long, using the same format as the
SC25 conference (i.e., the

all materials such as figures, bibliography, and appendixes.
All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous review process, with each
paper receiving at least three reviews from program committee members.
Papers will be accepted based on their technical contributions. We strongly
encourage "crazy and wild ideas" that push the boundaries of current
thinking!
Accepted papers will feature quick lightning presentations on the workshop
day to spark conversation and discussion amongst attendees.
Important Dates
---------------
* Paper Submission Deadline: August 8, 2025
* Paper Notification: September 8, 2025
* Final Paper Due: September 22, 2025
Submission Site
