*SCE 2024 CFP:*
Smart cities provide next generation engineering approaches for
urbanization. Smart cities aim to exploit the intellectual and social
capital as its core ingredient for urbanization, in addition to the
physical and ICT infrastructure. Smart cities are driven by several
interdependent trends. These include a pressing need for environmental
sustainability, and peoples’ increasing demands for personalization,
mobility and higher quality of life. Technological developments such as
miniaturization of devices, internet of things (IoT), big data, and
decreasing costs of computational entities have also accelerated the smart
cities developments.
Smart cities encompass all aspects of modern day life, transportation,
healthcare, entertainment, work, businesses, social interactions,
governance, etc. It is therefore necessary to engineer smart cities as
complex systems of systems supported by a converged ubiquitous
infrastructure. A key challenge in the realization of smart cities is to
create an ecosystem of digital infrastructures that are able to work
together and enable dynamic real-time interactions between various smart
city subsystems. With this background, this workshop invites submissions
that propose state of the art solutions for smart cities systems
engineering.
A particular focus of the workshop are the studies that involve cloud
computing, fog computing, and mobile edge computing technologies. Original
articles including modelling and empirical studies and development, as well
as relevant surveys are welcome. The topics of interest of the workshop
include, but are not limited to:
* IoT based developments for smart cities engineering
* Big data technologies for smart cities
* Modelling and analysis of smart city technologies and systems
* Mobile applications for smart cities
* Analytics for smart cities
* Cloud computing based approaches for smart city engineering
* Fog and edge computing based approaches for smart city engineering
* Cloudlet based approaches for smart city engineering
* Studies focussed on communication networks for smart cities
* Information management for smart cities
* Smart buildings, smart homes and smart energy grids
* Transportation, healthcare, and governance for smart cities
* Security and privacy of smart city systems
* Submissions Guidelines and Proceedings*
Manuscripts should be prepared in 10-point font using the IEEE 8.5" x 11"
two-column format. All papers should be in PDF format, and submitted
electronically at Paper Submission Link. A full paper can be up to 8 pages
(including all figures, tables and references). Submitted papers must
present original unpublished research that is not currently under review
for any other conference or journal. Papers not following these guidelines
may be rejected without review. Also submissions received after the due
date, exceeding length limit, or not appropriately structured may also not
be considered. Authors may contact the Program Chair for further
information or clarification. All submissions are peer-reviewed by at least
three reviewers. Accepted papers will appear in the FMEC Proceeding, and be
published by the IEEE Computer Society Conference Publishing Services and
be submitted to IEEE Xplore for inclusion.
Submitted papers must include original work, and must not be under
consideration for another conference or journal. Submission of regular
papers up to 8 pages and must follow the IEEE paper format. Please include
up to 7 keywords, complete postal and email address, and fax and phone
numbers of the corresponding author. Authors of accepted papers are
expected to present their work at the conference. Submitted papers that are
deemed of good quality but that could not be accepted as regular papers
will be accepted as short papers. Length of short papers can be between 4
to 6 pages.
