CCGrid 2023: Call for Papers

The 23rd International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet Computing
(CCGrid 2023)

May 1-4, 2023, Bangalore, India


The 23rd IEEE/ACM international Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet
Computing (CCGrid 2023) is a leading forum to disseminate and discuss
research activities and results on a broad range of topics in distributed
systems, ranging from computing clusters to widely distributed clouds and
emerging Internet computing paradigms such as Fog and Edge Computing for
Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data applications. The conference will
feature keynotes, technical presentations, posters, workshops, student
symposium, industry interactions, the SCALE Challenge, and the co-located
ICFEC conference.

CCGrid will act with responsibility as its primary consideration, with
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as central goals. Authors and participants
are encouraged to read the ACM Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and
ACM Policy Against Harassment, and IEEE Computer Society's expectation of
professional behavior found in the IEEE Computer Society Open Conference
Statement, the IEEE Event Conduct and Safety Statement, and the IEEE Code
of Ethics.

We solicit original contributions on all aspects of distributed systems and
applications in the context of cluster, cloud, and Internet computing
environments. Specific topics of interest include but are not limited to
the following:

Track 1: Hardware Systems and Networking (for Cluster, Cloud and Internet

Storage and I/O Systems: Distributed storage, cloud storage, Storage as a
Service, data locality techniques for in-memory processing, storage in the
edge, Big Data platforms, distributed file systems, NoSQL databases, Data
lakes, Data fabrics
Sustainable and Green Computing: Environment-friendly computing ecosystems.
Power, cooling and thermal awareness.
Architecture, Networking, Data Centers: Service oriented architectures.

Resource Management and Scheduling: Resource allocation algorithms,
profiling, modeling. Cluster, cloud, and internet computing scheduling and
meta-scheduling techniques;
Performance Modeling and Evaluation: Performance models. Monitoring and
evaluation tools. Analysis of system/application performance.
Energy-efficient software/applications. Policies, methods, and tools for
Energy-efficient computing. Energy-efficiency evaluation methods, metrics,
and tools. Energy consumption models.

Track 3: ML for Systems, and Systems for ML

Techniques, platforms and systems for supporting Machine Learning and
Artificial Intelligence applications
Artificial Intelligence: Large Scale Machine Learning, AI frontend and
backend systems, AI at the Edge and in the Cloud, cognitive computing,
federated learning
Machine learning/Deep Learning: statistical learning, natural language
processing, computer vision, data mining, multiagent systems, knowledge
Use of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence applications to enhance
the performance of cluster, cloud and Internet-computing systems
ML/AI techniques for workload prediction, application scheduling, resource
placement, resiliency, etc. in cluster, cloud and Internet-computing systems

Track 4: Future Compute Continuum

Internet Computing Frontiers: Cloud, Edge, Fog, Serverless, Lambda,
Streaming, Highly decentralized approaches to cloud computing, sensor data
streaming and computation on the edges of the network, Backend as a Service
Future Internet: 5G/6G and Use cases of 5G/6G system. Software defined
networking and 5G/6G. 5G/6G cyber security challenges and concerns Machine
learning algorithms for 5G/6G systems.
Osmotic Computing: Cloud Continuum with Osmosis behaviors, Micro Services
and MicroData, Functions as a Service (FaaS), Software Defined Membranes.
Cloud-Economics: Trustworthiness of services, ecosystem economics,
innovative metering, accounting, billing methods and tools, automated
trading and bidding support tools, performance monitoring, optimization,
prediction, energy efficiency, sustainability, decision support systems.
Post- and Non-Von Neumann Computing: Neuromorphic computing; Quantum
computing, Annealing-based quantum computing, hybrid quantum and classical
computing; Approximate, probabilistic, and inexact computing; In-memory
processing and memory-based computing; Emerging computing technologies,
like analog computing, biologically-inspired computing, memristors.

Track 5: Applications and Translation

Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cyber-Physical
Systems, e-Health, Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled Smart Systems and
Digital Twins: Digital Twins and Industry 4.0. Digital Twins and emerging
technologies linked to IoT Platforms, AR/VR.
Autonomous systems: Role of cluster, cloud and Internet computing to
support robotics, self-driving cars, autonomous aerial vehicles, etc.
Applications for Cloud-to-Things continuum: Service provisioning and
monitoring in a Cloud-to-Things environment; Resource elasticity in
Cloud-to-Things contexts; Algorithms and systems for automated elasticity;
Blockchain-based resource orchestrator; Machine learning techniques for
resource orchestration; Security policies in Cloud-to-Things.
Cyber-Security, Privacy and Resilient Distributed Systems: Distributed
Systems security and trust. Access control. Data privacy and integrity.
Regulation. Resiliency of service attacks.
Enterprise applications for hybrid clouds, data regulatory and sovereignty
concerns, data privacy, auditing and provenance.
AI Application domains: Social networks, healthcare, sustainability,
transportation, commerce, neuroscience and cognitive science.
Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit papers electronically through the following
link to be posted shortly.

Page limits: Submitted manuscripts should be structured as technical papers
and may not exceed 10 letter size (8.5 x 11) pages including figures and
tables using the IEEE format for conference proceedings. References are not
included in the 10-page limit.

Author and reviewer anonymity: All submissions need to be double-blind.
Authors should not reveal their identity in their submissions. All
references to past work need to be in a third-party form (e.g., instead of
saying “in our past work [26] we had done …”, you can say “in [26], Chen
et. al. had done …”).
Review criteria: All manuscripts will be reviewed and will be judged on
correctness, originality, technical strength, significance, quality of
presentation, and relevance to the conference attendees. Submitted papers
must represent original unpublished research that is not currently under
review for any other conference or journal. Papers not following these
guidelines will be rejected without review and further action may be taken,
including (but not limited to) notifications sent to the heads of the
institutions of the authors and sponsors of the conference.

Submissions received after the due date, exceeding length limit, or not
appropriately structured may also not be considered. Authors may contact
the conference program chairs for more information.

The proceedings will be published through the IEEE Press, USA and will be
made online through the IEEE and ACM Digital Libraries.
When submitting the final accepted manuscript, authors may purchase up to
two additional pages beyond the original 10 pages (excluding references) to
address comments received from the reviewers.

Best Paper Awards

CCGrid will present Best Paper Awards to the top paper(s) selected by the
Program Committee. The award will be determined based on review comments
and ratings, viewpoints of the technical and scientific merits, impact of
the research work on the science and engineering, and the clarity of

Conference Presentation

Conference will be in person physically. At least one author of each
accepted paper must present their work in-person at the conference. In case
of exceptional circumstances such as COVID related restrictions, the option
to present remotely will be provided.
