                          (DSLs in HPC 2020)

                           Oct 28 - 29, 2020

Domain-Specific Languages aim to tackle the performance, portability,
productivity challenge by restricting their scope to a narrower problem
domain. The scope of the abstraction used, and the programming API is
therefore critical in their design. The goal of this workshop is to bring
together researchers and software designers from academia and
industry who are involved in creating and using DSLs for high performance
computing. The objectives of this workshop will be to share the experiences
of the members of this community and to learn the opportunities and
challenges in the present and the future of DSLs, scientific codes,
and hardware architectures.

Confirmed Speakers
----------------

Gihan Mudalige (University of Warwick) – Bridging the Complexity Gap in Exascale Simulation Software Development Through High-level Domain Specific Languages
Michael Lange (European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) – Teaching weather(ed) code new languages: DSLs and source-to-source translation for the IFS
Fabio Luporini (Imperial College London) – Devito: a DSL and compiler for automated generation of production-grade wave propagators
George Bisbas (Imperial College London) – Temporal blocking of finite-difference stencil operators with sparse non-grid-aligned sources and receivers in Devito
Carlos Osuna, Matthian Roethlin (MeteoSwiss) – dusk & dawn – A High Level DSL Toolchain for Weather & Climate Models on Icosahedral Triangular Meshes
David Lusher (University of Southampton) – OpenSBLI: automatic code-generation for computational fluid dynamics using the OPS DSL

Topics
------

DSLs in HPC 2020 welcomes abstract submissions in a range of areas,
including but not limited to:

  * Design of DSLs for various applicaiton areas
  * Performance analysis of DSLs and applications
  * Optimisations implemented with the help of DSLs
  * Tools for the development and evaluations of DSLs
  * Experience with developing or using DSLs

Abstracts for talks and posters should summarise the content to be presented.

Important Dates
---------------

Extended abstract (2-4 pages) for contributed talk application submission deadline: 11th October 2020
Decision on contributed talks: 15th October 2020
Poster abstract (1-2 pages) submission deadline: 11th October 2020

Paper Submission and Registration
---------------------------------

Abstracts and papers need to be submitted via the EasyChair conference
system.

EasyChair URL::
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=datohpc2020

We request the authors to use the LNCS style (single column format) using
either the LaTeX document class or Word template. For details on the author
guidelines, please refer to Springer's website
(http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0). Submission
must be made as a single PDF file which includes all figures and
bibliography.

Abstracts may present original research or research already published.
At least one of the authors of each accepted paper must attend the virtual
event and present the paper at the workshop.

Please contact the Program Chairs for any questions / clarifications
