Smart cities (also smarter cities) use digital technologies to enhance performance and wellbeing, to reduce costs and resource consumption,
and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. Developing a smart city to better support growing urban population is a global
and complex challenge and involves interdisciplinary fields. Key 'smart' sectors include transportation, smart building, energy, health care,
and water systems.
As a highly successful International Conferences on Smart City, IEEE SmartCity is aiming to be a premier international conference in smart city.
The SmartCity-2020 is the 18th edition of a forum to bring together computer scientists, industrial engineers and researchers to discuss and
exchange experimental or theoretical results, novel designs, work-in-progress, experience, case studies, and trend-setting ideas in the area
of smart city.
IEEE SmartCity-2020 will be hosted in Fiji. Fiji is a tropical island nation located in Oceania in the South Pacific Ocean and comprises an archipelago
of more than 332 islands, 110 of which are permanently inhabited. Fiji is located about two-thirds of the way from Hawaii to New Zealand, and
immediate neighbors include Vanuatu, Tonga, and Samoa. It is a world-renowned resort that attracts many people to visit each year.
