OVERVIEW
Spack (https://github.com/spack/spack, https://spack.io) is an open source package manager aimed at HPC users, developers, and facility staff. You can use it to build software in many different configurations — with different compilers, flags, build options, and dependencies like different MPI or BLAS implementations. Spack simplifies building large software stacks with hundreds of packages, and you can use it in your home directory or to deploy software for an entire HPC facility.
If you’ve been meaning to learn about Spack, now’s your chance! We are teaming up with Amazon Web Services to offer a completely online tutorial. The tutorial will be in two parts:
Day 1: Tuesday, July 28, 16:00 - 19:30 CEST
- Intro to AWS HPC environment
- Intro to Spack
- Basic software installation with Spack
- Spack configuration
- Creating your own packages
Day 2: Wednesday, July 29, 16:00 - 19:30 CEST

- Spack stacks (Combinatorial environments)
- Modules
- Developer workflows
