Dear colleagues,

find this call for abstracts and participation for this conference where
all presentations will be delivered by women, although co-authors of the
abstracts can be of any gender.

-----

The first Advances in Computational Biology conference  will bring
together researchers working on systems biology, omics technologies,
artificial intelligence and high-performance computing with applications
to biology. The conference is open to everyone to attend, but all the
speakers will be women, providing an excellent opportunity to share
ideas and build research networks.

You are invited to register to attend
https://www.iscb.org/advcompbio2019-registration and to submit an
abstract on the following topics for consideration for oral or poster
presentations, please see more details here:
https://www.iscb.org/advcompbio2019-call-submissions.

Topics included:

  1. Learning from Biological Sequences: population genomics,
evolutionary genomics, systems biology, transcriptomics, sequence
analysis (chaired by Janet Kelso, group leader of the Minerva Research
Group for Bioinformatics at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary
Anthropology, Germany).

2. When Computational Biology meets Medicine: biomedical applications,
mutational landscapes, clinical genomics (chaired by Nuria Lopez-Bigas,
leader of the Biomedical Genomics Research Group at the Institute for
Research in Biomedicine Barcelona, Spain).

3. Machines Speeding up Research: high performance computing, machine
learning in the life sciences, imaging data analysis, dynamic
simulations and algorithm development (chaired by Alison Kennedy,
director of the STFC Hartree Centre, UK).

Additionally, there will be round-table informal meetings with female
thought-leaders in the IT, academic and politics fields, where topics
relating to women’s careers and opportunities in science will be
discussed. Confirmed discussion leads:
