# Call for Posters and Demos #

The 38th IEEE Symposium on Reliable Distributed Systems (SRDS 2019) will include poster/demonstration sessions in order to provide a forum to present and discuss works in progress, industry demonstrations of new applications or techniques, research demonstrations, upcoming research challenges, future directions, and novel approaches in the field of reliable distributed systems. The poster/demo sessions complement the paper tracks of the conference and offer an opportunity for presenting late-breaking research results, on-going research projects, and speculative or innovative work in progress. One of the key goals of these sessions is to foster collaboration between industry and academia. Participation of researchers and practitioners from industry and posters/demonstrations reporting on joint work between industry and academia are especially encouraged.

## Topics of Interest ##
The major areas of interest include the following topics:

* Dependability, security and privacy of distributed systems including, but not
limited to, cloud, high-performance, fog, and edge computing; distributed data
storage and processing; distributed machine learning and AI; safety-critical
distributed systems; Internet of Things, vehicular, robotic, cyber-physical
  and mobile systems.

* Techniques and algorithms advancing the state-of-the-art in fault tolerance,
fault recovery, robustness, self-stabilization, self-healing, scalability, and
real-time for distributed systems. These include, but are not limited to,
coordination, replication, failure prediction and detection, micro-services,
  transactions, and blockchains.

* Methods and tools for the design, implementation, verification, validation,
and operation of dependable and secure distributed applications, middleware,
  operating systems and hardware.

* Analytical, simulative and experimental assessment of dependable and secure
distributed systems, in particular, when in real settings or with real data
and in large scale and complex environments.

## Submission Guidelines ##

Authors are asked to submit a 3-page proposal using the same IEEE two-column format as the main conference for conference proceedings, which describes the main contributions of the poster or demonstration. All proposals must be written in English. Proposals should contain a brief abstract, place an emphasis on the motivation for the work, and summarize contributions being presented. Preliminary results may also be included. Authors submitting a demo are strongly encouraged to include in the paper a pointer to the online demo or video of the application to be presented. Decisions about acceptance will be based on relevance to the conference theme, originality, potential significance, and clarity. Accepted proposals will be included in the conference proceedings. All contributions must be submitted in PDF format through the Easychair online submission system for Posters-Demos at:

https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=srds2019demoposter

After acceptance, authors of poster papers will be asked to prepare a poster to be shown and discussed during the conference. Authors of demonstration proposals should clearly describe the amount of space and any specific equipment (e.g., tables, power strips, etc.) required for the demonstration via email to the Poster/Demo co-chairs (after acceptance). All accepted demos/posters will be considered for the Best Poster/Demo Award of the conference.
