Today, high-performance buildings are equipped with sophisticated monitoring systems and sensors for collecting huge amounts of data related to the buildings’ indoor environmental quality and energy consumption. However, most of these data are never utilized, typically due to the lack of proper tools. Further, the available tools do not have the ability to interpret these data, as they can only analyze the structured data. BIM is a process of developing a virtual equivalent of an actual building in terms of its physical and functional characteristics that supports data exchange, management and communication during the whole building’s life cycle. The goal of this workshop is to review the intelligent building solutions and tools that integrate BIM process and WSN technology. The workshop will focus on developments that will allow monitoring energy consumption, optimizing space, reducing operating costs, and simplifying planning and maintenance. The workshop will enhance the “intellect” of the buildings by the novel approaches that integrate wireless sensor technologies with BIM processes. By optimizing building’s energy performance, enhancing occupant comfort and health, and identifying areas for improvement, the advanced and innovative decision support environment (DSE) can contribute to the development of net-zero-energy buildings.

The workshop is looking to highlight the studies of how the integration of BIM and WSN is driving the built environment. Areas of interest include, but not limited to, the following:

  *   Analysis of IoT data using BIM
  *   BIM and facility management
  *   Sensor data visualization using BIM
  *   BIM and health and safety
  *   Smart buildings
  *   BIM and robotics
  *   Immersive (VR/AR) technologies in BIM
  *   BIM-enabled sustainability and performative design
  *   Quality control with BIM
  *   BIM and life cycle project management

****Submission Guidelines****

Submitted papers must be unpublished and must not be currently under review for any other publication. Submissions must be full papers, at most 8 single-spaced US Letter (8.5” x 11”) pages, including figures, tables, references, and appendices, or 2-page demo/poster abstracts. Authors must make a good faith effort to anonymize their submissions by: (1) using the "anonymous" option for the class and (2) using "anonsuppress" section where appropriate. Papers that do not meet the size, formatting, and anonymization requirements will not be reviewed. The review of all papers will follow the general single-blind policy. Please note that ACM uses 9-pt fonts in all conference proceedings, and the style (both LaTeX and Word) implicitly define the font size to be 9-pt. Accepted papers will be available on the ACM digital library on the first day of the conference.
