http://2019.rtas.org/brief-presentations-track/

** Scope **

The purpose of the Brief Presentations (BP) track is to provide researchers with an opportunity to discuss their ideas, present ongoing work, gather feedback from experts, introduce work published in journals or elsewhere that is relevant to the real-time systems community, and/or demonstrate their work with concrete systems, tools and prototypes in all areas of real-time embedded technology and applications as part of the CPSWeek joint poster/demo session. Specifically, the RTAS’19 Brief Presentations session will feature presentations on

- Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers,
- Work-already-Published (WaP), a.k.a. Journals-never-presented, and
- tool and systems demos.

The scope of the BP track covers all areas of real-time and embedded technology including applications, systems, tools, case studies, methodologies, foundations, wireless sensor networks, cyber-physical systems, the Internet-of-things, and hardware-software co-design. In keeping with the spirit of the main conference, submissions with an emphasis on systems and application aspects are especially encouraged.
The BP session will be held during the main conference prior to the CPSWeek joint poster/demo session. One author of every accepted paper (WiP, WaP, and Demos) must

1. be registered for the conference,
2. present the work in the RTAS’19 Brief Presentations Session,
3. and showcase the work at the joint CPSWeek poster and demo session.

By submitting a paper, the authors agree that, if accepted, at least one author will register for the conference and present the work in person at the BP and the poster/demo sessions.

** Work-in-Progress (WiP) Papers **

WiP submissions should focus on ongoing, unpublished work discussing evolving and early-stage ideas, new research directions, and current trends in the area. Submissions will be accepted based on their originality, quality, significance, and relevance to RTAS. WiP submissions should be in the form of short papers of up to 4 pages. Note that there is no requirement to present 4 pages of technical materials; shorter submissions are welcome, too, especially if they target early-stage ideas and open problems.
Accepted WiP papers will be published in an informal online proceedings without a DOI to allow for subsequent publication of the material in a full conference paper.

** Work-already-Published (WaP) **

A WaP submission should be an abstract of at most 2 pages of a previously published paper explaining relevance to RTAS and clearly citing the work being summarized. The intention of WaP presentations in the BP session is to raise awareness of work published elsewhere that is relevant to the real-time systems community and that might not be widely known to RTAS attendees, and to highlight work in the real-time systems community that has recently appeared in journals without having been previously presented at a conference. To be eligible to be presented as a WaP, a paper must be recent and either
1. have been published in a conference or journal that is not focused on real-time systems, or
2. have been published in a journal on real-time systems and not previously presented at a conference.

Submissions will be considered for inclusion in the program based on relevance to RTAS and the amount of time available for the BP session. Accepted WaP submissions will not appear in any printed form at the conference since they are already published.

Please feel free to inquire about the relevance of a work as a WaP in the context of the BP session by contacting the the Brief Presentations Chair (Mitra Nasri, M.Nasri at tudelft.nl).

** Tools and Demos **

A tool/demo submission should be a short technical abstract (up to 2 pages) describing whatwill be demonstrated andhowthe contributions will be illustrated interactively. If a demonstration requires special arrangements (in addition to a table, power, and wireless connectivity), please describe them clearly in the paper.
Tool/demo submissions will be evaluated based on technical merit and innovation as well as the potential to stimulate interesting discussions and exchange of ideas at the conference. In keeping with the spirit of the main symposium, submissions with an emphasis on system and application aspects are especially encouraged. Authors of papers accepted at RTAS 2019 are welcome and encouraged to showcase a demo of their work in addition to the regular paper presentation.

Authors of accepted demo papers are expected to give a brief presentation to the RTAS 2019 audience as part of the BP session, followed by an interactive demoas part of the joint CPSWeek poster/demo session.
