HPCEE : Workshop on High Performance Computing & Energy Efficiency
in conjunction with VECPAR 2016

1st July, Porto, 2016
https://www.irit.fr/~Georges.Da-Costa/pages/hpcee.html

Current large scale IT systems are becoming pervasive. Data centers are
used from web searches to protein analysis. Energy consumption of these
systems is part of the fastest growing of the worldwide energy
consumers. As an example, the top supercomputer in the Top500 ranking
(Tianhe-2) consumes 18kw, enough to power a city of 30,000 citizens. Two
observations can be made on HPC large scale systems: their energy
consumption is too important and these systems are getting more and
complex to manage. Moreover consuming such quantities of energy produces
a lot of heat. Thermal-aware management aims to improve power
consumption efficiency by coordinating resource management and thermal
based decisions.

How to optimize the resources usage to obtain a "green" infrastructure
and to improve energy efficiency?

This workshop is focused on scheduling policies and tools to address
energy efficiency for large scale Data Centers and HPC applications.

*** Topics

The main topics to be covered by this workshop include (but are not
limited to):

- Energy-aware scheduling for Data Centers, Grid
- Thermal-aware scheduling of Data Centers, Grid
- Energy-aware metrics for Data Centers, Grid
- Data Center optimization for energy and thermal efficiency
- Energy- and Thermal models of Data Centers, Grid
- Applications characterization for energy and thermal efficiency
- Tools and simulators for resource management to improve energy and
thermal efficiency
- Energy- and Thermal-aware runtimes for Data Centers
- Return of experiment on improving energy efficiency of Data Centers.
- Green HPC in Green Cloud

*** Important dates

Submissions due: March 12th, 2016

*** Submission

You should make your submissions through EasyChair.
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hpcee2016

Submitted papers must be formatted according to the rules of the
Springer Series Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS).

Please note that papers (for conference presentation) must not exceed 8
pages in length, when typeset using the LNCS format. Accepted papers
will be distributed in electronic format to participants of VECPAR 2016
and HPCEE 2016.

The papers of the workshops will be published under the Springer LNCS
series. The authors may be asked to revise the paper after the
conference in order to meet the series requirements.
