   1. *Background*

Today, many research organizations in academia, government labs and
industry are exploring new areas for the management of Internet connected
platforms and devices. For the cloud service providers and enterprise
datacenters, the software defined datacenter (network, compute, storage)
and subsequent orchestration and management of the service advocates for a
larger role for platforms which can be dynamically discovered, configured,
and managed. Existing open source cloud management frameworks have
provided a rich foundation for additional research avenues. For the
Internet of Things, the IoT gateway may be the management access point for
management of IoT devices over the Internet. With virtualization,
manageability needs to extend from managing virtual machine to containers.
The research may involve: 1) development of management frameworks to
support IoT; 2) identification of technological and operational gaps in
research and development to increase the capabilities of data center
managers (e.g. autonomics and orchestration), and 3) identification of
manageability gaps, including opportunities to build in additional levels
resilience and management capabilities.

   1. *Topics of **interest*

This workshop aims to showcase and disseminate new ideas and high quality
research on manageability of devices, platforms, system and datacenters. We
solicit original research articles, review papers, theoretical studies, and
practical software systems incorporating new paradigms, experimental
prototypes, and insightful requirement analysis with the above theme.
Submittals are encouraged from on-going research, completed research, and
experiences from implementations.
