*CALL FOR PARTICIPATION*
*Workshop on Computational Approaches for Cancer*
*Held in conjunction with IEEE/ACM Supercomputing 2015, Austin, Texas*
*Sunday, November 15, 2015*

A workshop focusing on computational approaches for cancer has become
increasingly important as the drive towards precision medicine has
accelerated, the challenges in cancer research and clinical application
requiring computational solution are growing, and the pursuit of effective
predictive models for complex biological systems begin to inform future
exascale computing requirements. This inaugural workshop focuses on
bringing together the interdisciplinary expertise ranging from clinicians,
mathematicians, data scientists, computational scientists, hardware
experts, engineers, developers, leaders and others with an interest in
advancing the use of computation at all levels to better understand,
diagnose, treat and prevent cancer. The workshop will provide opportunities
for participants to learn about how computation is employed across multiple
areas including imaging, genomics, analytics, modeling, pathology and drug
discovery. The forward focus of the workshop looks at challenges and
opportunities for computational methods, including approaches to
efficiently manage increasingly large datasets, collecting real-time data,
developing models, validation for clinical application, and the potential
for exascale applications involving cancer.
