(IEICE) announces a forthcoming special section on "Data Engineering and
Information Management", which is published in Transactions on Information
and Systems. We invite submissions of original and unpublished papers in the
field of wide range of data engineering, and particularly encourage
submissions on topics of emerging interest in engineering and management of
Big Data.

1. Scope of Contributions
Original papers on both theoretical and practical data engineering, and its
related research are welcome to this special section. The topics of interest
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Core Technologies: file structure, storage, query processing, query
languages, transaction processing, indexes, stream processing, security and
- Databases: cloud computing, distributed and parallel databases, multimedia
databases, spatial temporal databases, mobile databases, scientific
databases, XML and semi-structured databases, graph management, social
networks, sensor databases, data management in P2P and grid, data
integration, uncertainty, crowd sourcing
- Information Retrieval: information extraction and summarization,
information recommendation
- Data Mining: data warehouse, OLAP, data mining algorithms, text mining,
Web mining
- Web Technologies: Web search engines, contents technologies, meta-data,
semantic Web, Web services
- Applications: E-commerce, e-learning, digital libraries, data archive,
information and data broadcasting, visualization, user interfaces

2. Submission Guidelines
- A manuscript should be prepared according to the guideline given in "The
Information for Authors" (http://www.ieice.org/eng/shiori/mokuji_iss.html).
